Valentine's Day Ideas



How to ask out that someone you’ve been dying to ask out

· Put a bunch of ugly fish, and one attractive one in a fishbowl with a note saying, "Out of all of the fish in the sea, you're the one for me." :

· Give a dozen roses, 11 live roses and one fake one, and a note saying "You'll always mean something to me until the last rose dies." (One will never die, it's fake....) - This would be cute for an already established couple, and a note saying "I'll love you until the last rose dies"

· Want to avoid a direct rejection, but still want to know how he feels about you? Then why not ask him or her to ice cream or something before or after a school event? Better yet, go with a group and try to sit next to your crush.

· Sneak a note into their locker, or do something extravagent like fill their locker with balloons or something not messy!

· Send them a flower or deliver them in person.

· Scavenger hunt with each note leading to a different place. The last note asks her out or leads to you.

· Make goodies/treats and ask

· Buy some personalized m&m's

· Bring chocolates

· Spell out "be mine" in candles and light them and have her look out a window and see it

Low Cost Date Ideas

Sweet and Cheap
Don't have a lot of cash? Well try a picnic in the living room! Make sure to include candles for some ambiance and a little mood music in the background. Order some pizza and then you are nice and comfy for a rented movie.
Lover's Lane
Take your date bowling. Think about McDonald's dollar menu after bowling.

Browsing for Love
Take your date to Barnes and Noble or Borders. Spend a while drinking coffee or tea and browsing the shelves (try looking for books written by authors with your same last name). If you're hungry stop by an inexpensive restaurant such as Panera Bread or Avanti's.

Rent a Date
Rent a movie to watch at his/her place. Some suggested titles: The Notebook, P.S. I Love You, Sliding Doors, Serendipity, Hitch, Dirty Dancing, A Walk to Remember, and Titanic. For an extra twist throw movie titles in a bag and draw the one you'll rent.

Card Shop Swap
Go to a card shop and pick out Valentine's cards for each other. After you have read each card, put them back on the shelf.

Cookin' Up Some Love
Bring over ingredients to make sugar cookies. Be sure to pick up heart shaped cut-outs. Decorate together.

The Game of Love
Bring over a selection of games such as cards, yahtzee, or a fun board game (for great ideas go to Just For Fun at Westlake Shopping Center). For snacks bring over popcorn and kool-aid.


Medium Cost Date Ideas

Dessert first!
Do you have a decent amount of cash? Say... $25? Dress up, take your cash, and head to Olive Garden (or a restaurant of equal value). Order all the desserts you can, but stay within the budget! Yummy!

The Icebreaker
Date Idea- Go ice skating at Owen's Center. For a snack or dessert get a hot coco at the concession stand!
Don't worry if they can't skate, they can hold on to you as you pull them around! Great way to initiate a little contact ; )

Lovers' Lanes
Take your date out bowling. If your date confesses that they are terrible, have the bowling alley put up bumpers. If you're really daring, eat from the snack bar (most have surprisingly good pizza, nachos, and shakes). Be careful of competition. Keep it fun. Don't brag. Encourage each other.

Luck of the Draw
Throw the names of a dozen or so restaurants in a bag (write the names on poker chips if you like). Make sure all the restaurants are in your price range. Be creative. Think of different places to eat. Not a typical Olive Garden or Chilis but maybe something culteral (chinese, Indian, etc). Have your date draw out one restaurant for an appetizer, another for the main course, and a third for dessert. Must have a good sense of humor and make her laugh.

Let's Heat it Up
Go to Fired Up! In Peoria Heights. It's a lot of fun to pick out a piece of pottery and paint it as a momento from the night. (make reservations, it will probably be busy on Valentines day).

Reaching New Heights
Go Rock Climbing at upper limits in Bloomington. It's a great way to bond. Consider getting a day pass and breaking up the activity with lunch in the middle.

Dance The Night Away
Rent a disco ball from American rental and put it up in your house or basement. Decorate with candles, and make a mixed cd with slow dance songs. Eat dinner first and tell them afterward you are going somewhere special to dance.


Extravagant Date Ideas

Cinderella Romance
Mail her a dozen long stem roses with a card telling her to dress up then show up at her house. Then take her out to dinner to Alexander's Steakhouse where you grill your own steaks(don't worry they have people who will do it for you if needed). After that arrange for a carriage ride to take you around downtown Peoria. And to end the night walk her to her door an give her a good night kiss.

Road Trip!
Have a free day? A NICE amount of cash?! Then why not go for a road trip?! Grab an Illinois map and travel to a city for a day of entertainment. Or, if you're more adventurous, take the map and just drive! Make sure you have some good music!

The element of surprise
To start the day off send a rose to the girl your trying to ask out every hour through out the day. Durring the last hour of the day send a rose with a note attached. Dont tell her where your going or what your doing but tell her you'll be there at a certain time to pick her up and what to wear. Use your creativity but heres an idea... make plans to take her to a local cooking class, learn how to cook a good dinner and its a good bonding time, after the class eat the wonderful food you have made! :)

Do the Locomotion
Take a train to Chicago. Spend the day doing and seeing things that you don't usually get to do. Hit up a museum or the Navy Peir for some shopping. Maybe Go to the top of the Sears Tower. Just Friends Valentine Ideas

All the Single Ladies Party

Valentines day can depressing for those that don’t have someone to share it with. But for all those single ladies out there we have perfect plan for you, an “All the Single Ladies” Party! J On the dreaded February 14 make a plan with all your gal pals, who would usually be at home drowning their sorrows by eating ice cream while watching a Kate Hudson movie, and invite them over to party the night away.

· For your center piece of the party buy a huge poster board and keep plenty of markers around so that throughout the night all your friends can write down one-lines as to why it is good to be single.

· Fun games can include Cupid’s arrow: where you make a huge dartboard and place heart balloons around and let your party guest throw the darts to pop the hearts. Single scavenger: for those more adventures, make a human scavenge hunt that includes have your girlfriends get outside of their comfort zone and find single guys and ask them to help complete the “task” that they have been given based on a point system. Examples can included just getting the guys number for minimal amount of points to asking him to call your grandma to wish her a happy Valentines day for maximum points.

· Party favors should included the yummy Ring Pops so every girl can channel her inner Beyonce, and every girl must do her own rendition of the “Single Ladies” dance before she leaves.
